Interesting thought for you

Hi, folks...

A different kind of issue today. It's short, and might

kickstart some useful ideas for promoting your business. I'd

also appreciate your feedback on the concept.

"Interesting Thought"

===================

Note: I haven't yet tested this one. It's something that just

occurred to me and seemed like it might serve as a cool

brainstorming base.

If you've sen any of my mindmap products, or create mindmaps of

your own, this will make more sense. Even if you haven't,

though, it might get you thinking about ways you can use the

basic idea in other formats.

The idea popped into my head while I was working on an update.

It started out as a picture of a mindmap, with a node in the

lower right that said "More Info." With a mental click, that

opened into a number of branches, one of which was labelled

"Order Now."

At that point I said to myself, "Self, you may be on to

something here."

....

We'll often see mindmaps used as "pre-sales" content, to

explain what's in a product that's going to be launched soon.

It's become fairly common in the online marketing space.

Why not make those mindmaps (or whatever other content you're

offering) the actual sales vehicle?

Imagine a map that listed and linked to a fairly comprehensive

set of resources for some specific purpose, along with tips on

using each. These would have to be fairly brief, to fit the

constraints of the mindmap format. You could have a separate

node offering "More Info", that would branch out to more nodes,

including a "bullet" list of benefits, what's included in the

expanded product, and a "get this" node that lists the price,

guarantee, and an order link.

Note: Not a link to a salespage. An actual order button.

Yeah. Basically a salesletter included in the distributed

mindmap.

....

Here's the thinking.

Rather than spending a ton of space giving people the usual

sales pitch, give them something that's useful in its own

right. Anyone using the map will have a much clearer idea of

what's involved in what you're offering. The folks who aren't

interested will still have learned something useful, and the

ones who are interested will be directly involved in 5the

process at this point.

No need for hype or fancy copy. They'll KNOW they want more,

and they'll know why.

Seems to me like the right time to give them a chance to

upgrade. How about you?

....

I could get into the psychology of why I think this could work,

but you can probably see it already.

This could work with a lot of formats. PDF worksheets, video

tutorials, and pretty much anything in which you can include a

link. And, if you're using a shopping cart system like DL

Guard, the order button can be a direct "Buy Now" link. If not,

you can have it direct the new customer to a simple page with a

summary of what they're getting and an embedded order button,

or instructions to call you for a consultation, or subscribe to

a newsletter. Whatever you're promoting.

You'rte giving them a working product, and offering them a way

to get more if they like it.

And, if the info or mindmap or whatever is useful in its own

right (which it would have to be for this to work), you can

distribute it freely, which could open a lot more channels.

Worst case: You give someone a useful tool for free. Doesn't

cost you anything, right?

Best case: You get a new customer who buys knowing what

they're getting into, and has shown they're going to open and

use what they get from you. That's the best kind of customer

you can have.

This is a "no lose" situation.

....

If you've seen "The Profit Plan," you can probably see how this

could be used. The map itself is extremely handy, but the extra

materials, like the 162 ways to build your list or network, add

a huge amount to it. That's one kind of offer that could

benefit from this strategy.

You could do the same thing with instructional systems that

involved PDF worksheets.

The key idea here is to include an actual order button in the

thing, rather than using it as a lead-in to a sales page.

Two questions for you...

What do you think of this idea? Any suggestions you'd like to

offer your fellow readers to make it useful in other ways?

And would you like to get more issues like this, with the goal

of simply offering brainstorming ideas you can build on?

Hit reply and let me know.

....

If you haven't seen what a mindmap product can look like, or if

you just want to build your network and get more subscribers

and affiliates, check out "The Profit Plan."

There's actually a lot more to it than what I just described,

mind you. It's a fairly comprehensive outline and planner for

any sort of online business. And it's a great roadmap for

choosing a model that works for you and getting things started

online much more quickly.

Check it out. I'm pretty proud of that one. ;)
